You've seen them on Oprah, but have you ever DONE one? Flash Mob dancing is the nation's latest craze, and it's coming to DC, thanks to Dance Metro DC's "Dance is the Answer" campaign.
As part of National Dance Week (ending May 2), the group will stage Flash Mob performances based on steps from the musical Mamma Mia and you're invited to join. The two performances will take place on May 2 – 1:00 p.m. at Dupont Circle in DC and at 3:00 p.m. at Ballston Common Mall in Arlington, VA.
Want to know more? Here’s how it works: A choreographer creates a sequence of movements and demonstrates them in a video online. They also teach it live in pre-scheduled group rehearsals. Through digital networking, teaching the dance to others live, and spreading the word among friends by every means possible, the public makes sure the dance lives and thrives! As the actual live performance dates come near, the times will be posted at www.danceistheanswer.org and tweeted/Facebooked, along with a geographic location. Dancers show up, and it’s a Mob of synchronicity, choreography and fun.
