Say Yum: Gratis S'mores at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown

When the weather outside is frightful, a fire is so delightful - but we've got places to go (like the Ritz) when it snows, when it snows, when it snows.

Ever heard of a s'more-melier? Neither had we, until our good friend Audrey over at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown
advised us of their latest holiday perk - gratis nightly s'mores at 6 p.m., butler-passed and prepped just for you in front of the hotel's roaring fire.

The “S’more-melier” is also available to provide guests with wine and cocktail pairings, along with expert advice on creating this special treat at home.

What makes them Ritz-worthy, you ask?

A delicious blend of melted Valrhona chocolate and homemade marshmallows sandwiched between two slices of French baguette bread, this version is prepared French-toast style. Want s’more? Try the option with organic peanut butter.

Guests can further satisfy their sweet tooth with a cup of hot cocoa from the hotel’s new Gourmet Hot Chocolate menu, which includes organic dark and milk chocolate, Mexican hot chocolate prepared with cinnamon, ancho chilli and chipotle chilli, and a vanilla caramel hot chocolate made with Valrhona chocolate and house-made caramel sauce.

For those who really want to splurge (um, this part isn't free), try the hotel’s new For the Love of Chocolate package, which includes a seven-course chocolate-inspired tasting menu from Executive Chef Quang Duong in the dramatic 12-person Chimney Stack dining room.

The For the Love of Chocolate Package includes:

  • Overnight guest room accommodations (option of premier guest room or suite)
  • Seven-course chocolate-inspired tasting menu in the hotel’s Chimney Stack dining room, a dramatic 12-person private dining room based at the bottom of a 130-foot smokestack
  • S’mores lesson in front of the Lobby’s wood-burning fireplace with the hotel’s "S'more-melier,”
  • Copy of best-selling novel Like Water for Chocolate
  • Chocolate Lovers breakfast for two in Fahrenheit restaurant

The package is priced starting at $639 per night and is available through March 31, 2010.

We'd suggest you hie thyself over to Georgetown and grab yourself a seat and glass of wine, because these babies won't last long. Oh, and did we mention they have free WiFi too? We may or may not be typing this from there right now!!

**Thanks to Audrey Slade at the Ritz for the photos!
