Deacon Says: What to do this weekend
Woof! Don't let the rain keep you inside. Don your wellies and hit the town for this weekend's fab events. I've put my paw print of approval on the events in this issue of DailyCandy's Weekend Guide, but that's not all I want to do.
Mom and me plan to curl up on the couch for the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy.
After that's over, we've got a full schedule. Here's a peek at where you'll find us:
Periwinkle: Happy birthday! Toast this Alexandria fave by snagging 10% off the merch through Sunday.
We'll be headed to Shaw (never thought to we'd say that) to sample the Parisian bistro food at the just-opened-today resto 1905. Our good friend Metrocurean has some additional deets.
There are too many Oktoberfest options to determine as of yet which one will be graced with our presence. But you can bet that we'll head to Barracks Row, Rustico, Pizzeria Paradiso, Das Best (at National Harbor), or perhaps taking a road trip for the 6th annual Blue and Grey party in Fredericksburg.
Beer and wings go together, no? On Sunday, it's wing time, when J. Pauls and Old Glory battle it out in their first annual wing competition. $20 nabs all the wings you can eat from 12 to 5 PM.
But what about culture? Make at least a quick pass through the annual National Book Festival on the Mall. You'll get an insider's glimpse into our idea of good literature - we're lining up to meet romance novelist Sandra Brown and The Other Boelyn Girl author Philippa Gregory.
Those frenchies have a certain je ne cest quoi, no? Hit up the Soiree Carte Blanche at Hillwood for cocktails, apps, French videos, and a moonlit stroll through the gardens. Tres romantique!
Party in our 'hood for the 11th annual Clarendon Day. After all, what's better than a fest that you can reach on foot?
... that's all our stomachs or attention spans can hold for this weekend. Drop us a line if you've got another suggestion!
