We're always so excited to visit with our favorite
Travel Tuesday friends during weekly Twitter chats and thought our blog buddies would enjoy the same. Each week, we'll be using a "Travel Tuesday" post to rank one of our favorite destinations - a "must visit" destination, photos from a great place we've visited, or even use it as a sounding board to plan an upcoming trip.
We thought this would be a great way to marry our interest in travel writing with the "DC and Beyond" theme of the blog and also interact with other great readers like yourselves to share our fave travel tips, tricks and wishlists!
For this first Travel Tuesday, we're focusing on an unlikely location - West Virginia, one of our new favorite "off the radar" destinations for a great weekend getaway.
We visited last year with girlfriends, spending the weekend in a remote cabin home of our friend C, and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. The fresh air, awe-inspiring scenery and changing leaves were enough to put us in a great fall mood, but spending the weekends with our best girlfriends, away from distractions like computers and boyfriends, was even better. We took long hikes, cooked a great dinner, visited a local hotspot and even made caramel apples.
Here are some of our favorite photos from the trip:
Modeling a beautiful dinner with host C & blonde better half K |
We toured old railroad cars |
And saw waterfalls |
And roaring streams |
While on a hike |
Of course we posed for a few pictures |
And marveled at the blue, blue sky |
For this weekend, we took the road less traveled |
And made memories |
That will last a lifetime |
And caramel apples that lasted about an hour. |
