Spotted: Anna Wintour in DC

Deacon's spies have unconfirmed yet "we're 99.9% sure" sightings of the one and only Vogue editrix at DC's famed Willard Hotel this morning. According to our source, Ms. Wintour was sporting her signature oversized Chanel glasses, a black fur (possibly mink) coat, and being trailed by an assistant in a cape.

According to Gawker, the reason for her visit may have something to do with her recent appointment on the President's Committee on Arts & Humanities, chaired by none other than MObama.

We'll be stalking, um, we mean taking tea at the Willard later to see if we can spot her ourselves.

xoxo,
Deacon

PS: If you see her, you can wish her a belated happy birthday (it was Nov. 3)

UPDATE: Despite repeated calls and stalkerazzi attempts, we've been unable to confirm or deny this rumor.

In Other News: The September Issue / Gilt Groupe / W Hotel Party and Preview

DC's luckiest stylistas (yours truly included) had the chance for a sneak peek at "The September Issue," the documentary about Anna Wintour and the making of Vogue's September 2007 issue, on Wednesday evening, sponsored by Gilt Groupe with an after party at the chic W hotel.

There's not much to report other than GO.SEE.THIS.MOVIE. Immediately. Well, on September 11th, when it hits theaters nationally. It's a truly interesting and well-edited take on both the inner workings of Vogue and the world of fashion in general. Anna Wintour (what a contrast to her Devil Wears Prada character!) displays humor, impeccable fashion sense, and a business savvy unseen in nearly any other magazine editor. Additionally, she commands a respect in the industry that will likely never be seen again. The interplay between Wintour and her Creative Director, Grace Coddington, is especially interesting.

Afterwards, we headed over to the W's POV for a chic after party complete with cocktails, make-your-own Vogue cover shoots apps and tons of gawking at the beautiful people in the room. What a fun night!
