"We're pleased to bring our service to these world-class Mexican destinations and to offer travelers a better value and a unique flight experience," said Virgin America President and CEO David Cush. "We think flyers deserve to start their Mexican getaways as soon as they board their flight. And with low fares, touch-screen entertainment, beautiful cabins and a host of other features aimed at bringing the fun back to flying, we think travelers will agree that Virgin America is the perfect way to start their Mexican vacation a few hours early."
"We are pleased to welcome Virgin America to Los Cabos. The decision to serve San Jose del Cabo (SJD) is a testament to our destination's strong tourism economy and commitment to provide each visitor with an unmatched vacation experience." Said Gonzalo Franyutti De La Parra, President of the Los Cabos Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Virgin America's Mexico fares start from $129** in the Main Cabin for SFO-SJD with tickets on sale today on Virgin America's Web site and at 1.877.FLY.VIRGIN (1.877.359.8474).
In addition to these already low fares, the airline is celebrating the new routes by giving a special offer to those who virtually check-in on Loopt Star at SFO or one of Virgin America's mobile taco truck locations from 11:00am-3:00pm PT today. By checking in at one of the locations below via Loopt Star, members of the public can score a $1 two-for-one taco deal along with a two-for-one ticket offer**** on Virgin America's new flights to Mexico.
In San Francisco, the airline's in-flight teammates and some SF ACC Chihuahua friends will be posted at hometown taco truck favorite, Los Compadres, at 100 Folsom Street.
Guests checking in on Loopt Star at SFO will also receive the special offer. To be eligible, one must check-in using the Loopt Star iPhone app, which is available for free download at: www.loopt.com/looptstar.
Proceeds from every taco sold today from 11:00am-3:00pm PT, will support the San Francisco Animal Care and Control's (SF ACC) - including its Chihuahua rescue efforts. In January, Virgin America teamed up with the SF ACC by flying Chihuahuas to New York so the dogs could be adopted into new homes. The overpopulation of Chihuahuas in California continues to force animal shelters on the West Coast to look to shelters on the East Coast for help.
The airline's Mexico flight schedule is as follows:
SFO 12:10pm - SJD 4:20pm
Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
SJD 5:20pm - SFO 7:35pm
Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

DC Shorts Film Festival is Washington, D.C.’s only festival celebrating short films. It returns September 9-16, 2010 with a new group of goodies for movie-goers. Voted best festival by Washington City Paper, DC Shorts boasts a wide array of films that run the gamut in genre, style and subject, but are unified by one common thing – their length of 20 minutes or less.
This year the festival features 97 films from an unprecedented 11 countries. The DC-area remains strongly represented with 11 locally-produced films on the roster. There will be nine different showcases screened throughout the week, each featuring approximately two hours of films lasting from one minute – 20 minutes. The showcases range in content with something for everyone, including dramas, comedies, animation, sci-fi, documentaries and experimental films.
A free family-friendly showcase will be shown at both locations on Saturday, September 11 in conjunction with Penn Quarter’s Arts on Foot event. These films are suitable for children ages eight and up and a parental guide to films is available on the DC Shorts website.
The fun at DC Shorts doesn’t end with the films. Celebrate opening night among the stars at the Celebrity Party mixing and mingling with filmmakers from around the world and Oscar winner, Roger Ross Williams at Madame Tussaud’s. The festivities continue with Friday’s Grand Bash on the U.S. Navy Memorial Plaza where dancing and custom t-shirts continue until midnight.
We haven't decided which films we're checking out yet, but we'll be sure to let you know which ones get our paw print of approval!

Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders has 32 varieties of fresh, healthy and affordable olive oil and balsamic vinegars to taste. As different as wine and olive oil may seem, they are both a unique art form.
Each of the flavored oils and balsamic vinegars are displayed in beautiful Italian futis, stainless steel airtight dispensers that keep every drop fresh. As a part of complimentary tastings, guests can sample a range of flavored extra-virgin olive oils including roasted garlic, cilantro, and all-natural butter. All of the vinegars are at least 12 years old, Italian produced super premium balsamic vinegars and come in a variety of flavors as well, from blueberry to blackberry-ginger; they even have a dark chocolate flavor! (It's perfect for drizzling over fruit or ice cream for dessert, they tell us).
Owners Mike Kilpatrick and Dawn Waltman fell in love with Cottonwood’s historic atmosphere and home town feel four years ago and knew they wanted to be a part of the community. Combined with their location on Main Street and being neighbors with two Verde Valley Wine Trail tasting rooms, Pillsbury Wine Co. and Arizona Stronghold, they knew it would be the perfect place to open their store.
“Olive oil tasting is fun! And definitely unique here in America, but for many Mediterranean cultures it is normal to taste and purchase olive oil from a tasting room. To an Italian, olive oils and balsamic vinegars are like wine, you wouldn’t want to purchase it until you have had a chance to taste it.” Kilpatrick says.

The melodic guitar heavy band has been compared to everything from the Smashing Pumpkins to My Bloody Valentine and its been claimed that their reverb-soaked vocal hooks would make The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft proud. They are playing at Velvet Lounge on U Street on August 15th with Tell Tale. Deacon rarely ventures to that part of the city but perhaps a paramour or two will accompany our favorite German.

Housewife Linda, whom we've already decided is just a bit cattier than she needs to be, comments that Mary must have invited the Salahis due to guilt (um, or the producers telling her to), but then adds that "if you open those doors to people, let's say that are on a second-tier level, it just seems so unnatural." Um, Linda, have you taken a good look in the mirror recently? Your FACE seems unnatural, all bad eye lifts and too much Botox. We're not even going to go into the "one of these things is not like the other" comments about your boyfriend, because our interactions with him have shown him to be a nice person. You, on the other hand, who claim to own the most important modeling agency in DC? We'll just remind you of a saying ... it's called "don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house."

While Pelleve is only FDA approved for use on the face to fight wrinkles. It may have possible other applications in the future such as acne scar treatment, cellulite treatments and more. Peleve differs from other anti-wrinkle treatment systems because no surgery or needles are necessary, there’s no need to numb the skin, and it is virtually painless. In fact, patients who have had Pelleve say it feels like a warm facial massage. With Pellevé, the physician can customize the treatment to the needs of the patient. You can return home or go back to work right after leaving the office.
I'm not sure how I feel about it yet but, I'll give you another update when I've undergone the treatment late this month.
Until then, love from NYC,
And then, just as we were snoozing in on Sunday morning, plotting our day of tummy rubs and wubba activities, we heard a yip. Yes, a yip. It's the only word we can contemplate to describe the noise that this small moving toy was making. We hear rumors of words like "rescue" and "adoption" and a strange word called "longhaired miniature dachshund." Marty, or so he calls himself, is in the midst of the terrible twos, appears to want to take our spot (mom's lap) and displays a disdainful lack of interest in the wubba. At ten pounds, we have determined that our food bowl weighs more than he does. And he has the audacity to growl (if that noise he makes can be called such a thing) at us, as if HE is the alpha dog. We are not sure if we like this new "friend" yet and are determining if the pipsqueak shall be taught a lesson. His redeeming feature is his incredible fur. Perhaps when he quiets down we can bond about grooming techniques for keeping our locks so long and luscious. But for the moment, we will wait for Winston's arrival. Shepherds must confer about these things, you see. Thankfully, Marty's stay is supposed to be temporary - he will relocated to Arlington with M- in November. We hope.
