Luxe Life: Black Friday Deals, Deacon Style

Deacon is sniffing out the season's hottest Black Friday deals and steals. We'll eschew the obvious (thank you, Macy's and Target for your constant barrage of TV commercials and doorbuster announcements) in favor of more stylish and lesser-known picks, but do let us know if your shop is offering a special and we'll post it here. The list is continually being updated, so check back regularly.

Looking for a more specific list? Don't miss Deacon's first annual GIFT GUIDE, coming to you next week.

Old Town Boutique District is offering a 10 percent off coupon valid at participating merchants on Black Friday morning, plus extra promos at many of the shops. It's simple - buy at one merchant and receive 10 percent off the next - a dress at Hysteria, for example, gets you discounts at Shoe Hive or Red Barn Mercantile by showing the receipt.

Find 10% off all furniture at mod design decor and lesser-priced Pottery Barn counterpart WEST ELM. Valid in-store only from 11/27 to 11/30.

Looking to surprise your main man this holiday season? Spend $200 at Coup De Foudre lingerie in Penn Quarter and receive this free Chantelle Chantilly panty (a $54 value) free. Valid NOW through November 28th. Not applicable with Gift Card, return, exchange or sale merchandise.

Funjet Vacations has six exclusive unbeatable deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday bargain shoppers. Valid for bookings November 27 - 30, 2009, consumers can save hundreds of dollars at some of their most popular hotels in Mexico, Caribbean and Hawaii. These deals are available for travel November 28, 2009 - April 30, 2010. Specific hotels and offer details will be available beginning this Friday through http://www.funjet.com/ or a local travel agent.

Chic U Street boutique Nana is offering doorbuster savings on Friday morning with gift certificates ($10) to their first five shoppers. When you make your purchase, draw from the "bowl of savings" at the counter, where you'll receive an additional 10 to 25 percent off of your purchase. One lucky winner will also get a free HOBO bag.

Don't miss the stylish savings from the shops at Bethesda Row! Ginger, Urban Chic and Sassanova are offerings some great promos on your favorite designer names.

Super (and locally-owned) consignment site RedSprinkle.com is offering free shipping plus 20 percent off your purchase for Black Friday!

Luxe skincare purveyor Olavie & Le Vin is hosting their biggest sale of the year TOMORROW (Wednesday). Scoop up their Chardonnay line at 20 percent off and for one day only - it smells like you're drinking a mimosa in the shower!!

Sarah over at Washingtonian.com has a Black Friday Sale Guide that Deacon fans will love. She's got a great roundup of stores in Georgetown, including Sangaree (30 percent off all items) and Major (a midnight sneaker sale!). Plus, she alerted us to a great deal at Alexandria's Periwinkle, where you get escalating discounts in 10 percent increments up to 50 percent off when you buy five items.

Columbia Height's chic shoe boutique Simply Soles is bypassing the crowded shops and long lines of Black Friday for a Cyber Monday promo that's super sweet. Save 20 to 40 percent on your favorite looks - the best shoppers click early!

If you live near Vienna, be sure to peruse the super cute downtown and take advantage of their Black Friday promo. Merchants are offering special discounts, giveaways, and events. Our favorite promo? Participating merchants will have special cards available for visitors to sign for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Merchants will also be collecting gifts for the troops. Cards and gifts will be sent through Operation Pinecone, a local, all-volunteer, non-profit organization that assembles and sends care packages to service members throughout the year.

We told you about the pre-sale at Barney's and Co-Op late last week, but there are even more markdowns being made ON WEDNESDAY! Now slash up to 40 percent off designers like Philip Lim, Sariah and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Hot!

Even more Black Friday hotness from Luna. Plus, the first five customers to spend $100 get a free Infinity scarf!

Starting today, take 25 percent off any one non sale item at Annapolis' Horse boutique by mentioning this post!

Take an additional 25 percent off all sale items at Intermix by using code Home25 at checkout!

Spend $100 and get a $50 gift card at Neiman Marcus (in-store only) for Black Friday! 9 am to noon only!

Luxe Life: Terra Closing

Sad news! One of Dupont's best boutiques, Terra, is closing. That said, you can snag between 30 and 90 percent off of the entire store. Get there soon, as they're only open until December 6th!

Say Yum: Tastes Great on the Lips, Not So Much on the Hips

Good news for Marylanders - Georgetown Cupcake's second location is now open! Bethesda was the chosen hotspot, and we hear the line was 'round the block yesterday for their gratis opening day treats.

Pre-order these yummy treats in bunches for Thanksgiving, but hurry, as holiday orders take at least 48 hours to prep! You can even order online for next day delivery!

The Caramel Apple is dangerously delicious, but we're pretty partial to the Peanut Butter and Lava Fudge too!

Look for their newly-expanded M Street location to debut early next month.

Thanks to DinnerCakes.com for the image.

Luxe Life: A Mobile Boutique, Ebay Launches The Inside Source, and Deacon contributes!

Shoppers, rejoice! Last week, EBay launched "The Inside Source," an online magazine to accompany all things fashion and fun.

Deacon is proud to announce that he has authored DC's inaugural posting to the site, corresponding with the arrival of the EBay Mobile Boutique, coming to DC TODAY and TOMORROW! The post covers ten great things to do during the holiday season. Our dear friend over at Project Beltway has also drawn up a fabulous Street Style posting that we're truly excited to say reflects all of the fashion-sense that DC should be known for.

According to EBay, "The Inside Source is a digital media destination that harnesses the eBay shopping community’s real time buying and selling activity to curate proprietary insights that shape the retail industry and American consumer’s lifestyles.

The Inside Source offers fresh, original perspective and editorial content, such as feature articles and opinion pieces written by journalists and shopping specialists, that provides an insider look at what’s hot and what’s next."

Check it out and let us know your thoughts - we think you'll love our holiday shopping guide!

Today: Miss Sinergy

Don't miss the 1st annual Miss Sinergy Pageant tonight at the House of Sweden. Unlike some pageants, which judge contestants solely on looks and questionable "talent" portion, Miss Sinergy's winner is whittled down from hundreds of contestants based on her commitment to charitable causes. The pageant also raises funds to help battle breast cancer. Deacon highly suggests you attend this worthy event!!

About the event:

The Miss Sinergy competition showcases Sinergy's commitment to charitable causes that serve to better individuals in the D.C. area and around the world. More specifically, the Miss Sinergy competition will bring resources to the fight against breast cancer, while finding a way to bring glamour, fun, and excitement to the metropolitan area. We will be casting the most diverse group of ladies that the region has to offer, while also seeking support from several locally-based businesses. Proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research.

Through the course of the competition, hundreds of contestants will be narrowed down to one, who will be crowned as queen and winner of the Miss Sinergy competition.

Ladies will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Desire to contribute to national and international charitable causes effecting the quality of life around the world;
  • Giving back to the environment;
  • Confidence;
  • Self-respect;
  • Congeniality; and,
  • Mental and physical health.

We will be doing a fashion show (swimsuit/evening gown) competition, which we feel the will embody the ladies' sense of style and composure.

Today: Blondes vs. Brunettes

Deacon isn't playing this year, but if you have some free time today, turn out to support the annual BVB football game. Not only is it for a great cause (Alzheimer's Research) but you'll likely get to see the Brunettes kick some Blondie butt for, oh, the umpteenth year in a row. Naturally, Deacon supports his own hair color, but even if you're of a different persuasion, remember that all proceeds do go to charity and this is just a little friendly competition!!

Spotted: Anna Wintour in DC

Deacon's spies have unconfirmed yet "we're 99.9% sure" sightings of the one and only Vogue editrix at DC's famed Willard Hotel this morning. According to our source, Ms. Wintour was sporting her signature oversized Chanel glasses, a black fur (possibly mink) coat, and being trailed by an assistant in a cape.

According to Gawker, the reason for her visit may have something to do with her recent appointment on the President's Committee on Arts & Humanities, chaired by none other than MObama.

We'll be stalking, um, we mean taking tea at the Willard later to see if we can spot her ourselves.

xoxo,
Deacon

PS: If you see her, you can wish her a belated happy birthday (it was Nov. 3)

UPDATE: Despite repeated calls and stalkerazzi attempts, we've been unable to confirm or deny this rumor.

You're Invited: 5 Hot Celebrity Designers in DC this Week!!

Perhaps thanks to our fashionable First Lady, DC has suddenly become the "It" city for celebs and celeb designers. In the past few months, we've seen appearances by Tim Gunn, Christian Louboutin, DVF and more. Missed them? You're in luck. The next wave of celebrities is headed into town THIS WEEK and you're invited to meet them in person!

Hit up private events with Stephen Webster and David Yurman in Tysons Corner, head to the Corcoran for a gab sesh with Christian Siriano, or don your prettiest party dress and head to Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom to meet Jason Wu and Isabel Toledo, beloved by none other than MObama herself.

We've pasted the invitation deets below and will be attending as many events as our poor paws can handle - so if you see us, be sure to say hi!

Named “America’s next great fashion designer” by Tim Gunn, design prodigy Christian Siriano made headlines as the youngest designer to ever win Bravo’s hit television show, Project Runway. Since the show, Siriano has taken the fashion industry by storm, showing his collections at Fashion Week in New York City and designing lines for Puma, Payless, and Victoria’s Secret Beauty. In his first book, Fierce Style: How to be Your Most Fabulous Self, Siriano discusses how to be “fierce” in fashion and in everyday life, giving tips on developing personal style and building self-confidence. Join us as Christian Siriano takes the Corcoran’s stage to discuss his personal journey and the inspiration behind his celebrated designs. A book sale and signing will follow the talk.
