Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and whether you're slaving over the Turkey yourself or simply headed to a friend or relative's home, a must-have addition to any meal is the sweet ending. Join Art & Soul's pastry chef Lauren Whitledge on November 14th at 3:00 pm for a pie making class that shows everyone how easy it is to make a variety of pie crusts and fillings for those holiday favorites. In addition to recipes from the class, each participant will receive a "Baby Pie" to take home.
Deacon may be a fabulous chef, but his crust making skills are limited to the frozen Pillsbury kind, so he'll certainly be in attendance. Care to join us? The class is $40 and registration is available by clicking here.

In addition to having some of the best fashions in town, we love Bloomies because they often host special shopping days. Not only do shoppers save on their favorite merch, but a percentage of the proceeds are donated to worth charities.
The Junior League of Washington is sponsoring tomorrow's style savings event. Purchase a $10 pass at the store or online to save 15 to 20 percent on all of your favorite brands.
In addition, visit the Chevy Chase store starting at 7 pm Thursday evening for a special night of prizes, seminars and style tips, including:
- The Cathy Phillips Project Trend Seminar: Our very own stylist-extraordinaire and personal shopper will discuss the latest trends and show you how to incorporate them into your wardrobe.
- Mind your P's and Q's: Sarah Meyer Walsh, owner of Haute Papier, will guide us through correspondence do's and don'ts.
- Easy Entertaining: Chef Jessica Buchanan will be on hand to whip up tasty treats and share cooking tips as the holiday season approaches.

If you happen to be in NYC this weekend, enjoy your chance to meet Mr. Louboutin himself at Bergdorf Goodman tomorrow.
DCers, you'll get your chance too. We already blogged about his exclusive signing and appearance at Tysons Corner's Neiman Marcus on Saturday.
A word to the wise: Get there early and pre-order your purchase. We've heard from the sales staff that lines are expected to be crazy.
Don't miss your chance to browse the fun merch at Upstairs on 7th during an exclusive Spring 2010 preview.
It's simple math: Chic Clothes + Charity = Perfect Night
Plus, they have the cutest jewelery in town!
As we're sure you know, Deacon has a bit of a shoe fetish, but he's also a very frugal Shepherd. Don't miss the change to scoop up these trend-worthy styles at a fraction of their designer counterparts.
Love the hard-edged look of Guiseppe Zanotti for Balmain but suffer sticker shock at the prices? Snag their studded pumps ($775)for a fraction of the price with Dolce Vita's Trinity Studded Pumps.($215)
If you crave a walk on the wild side and love and Louboutin's $1375 version, try Jolie's haircalf booties, a steal at just $265 pre-discount. You don't get the red sole, but the $1,000-plus savings would buy you a pair and a half of seasonless Louboutin pumps ... or your fall wardrobe.
But what about your technology itself - is it style savvy?
Deacon here still works from a Blackberry, preferring a keyboard over thousands of apps and a too-cool-for-school touch screen, but if we had an iPhone, this is one app we'd get immediately.
Frida Giannini of Gucci (yes, the fashion house) collaborated with the one and only Mark Ronson to create an app that mixes the hottest beats (aptly called Gucci Beats) that can be mixed directly on the phone as well as share tracks and playlists with friends. The app also allows you to stream music by city, 'aptly' titled the Little Black Book, which combines a city guide, images from the latest fashion shows, news from Gucci, and a look book so you can shop while you groove to the latest tunes.
Best of all, it's free!

We hope to see you there, but if you didn't snag an invite, visit at 9 pm sharp for your chance to chat with Scott Schuman, aka The Sartorialist.
He'll be signing copies of his new book and hopefully dishing on DC's fashion scene.
If you're coming, leave a comment or give a shout out. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our guide to the ins and outs of Spa Week (happening now!) went live today on Washingtonian.com - check it out ... we've provided suggestions for newbie, occasional and expert spa-goers as well as our list of the best places to hit for a cheap yet worthwhile treatment.
Don't miss out!
Ayr Hill Gallery will host a painting demonstration by Trisha Adams from 1-3 pm on October 17. Ms. Adams is an alla prima painter living and working in Northern Virginia. Her paintings are representational with, what Ms. Adams describes as, "a dash of abstraction." Her favorite subjects for her work are landscapes and still lifes. Ms. Adams often paints outdoors, en plein air, and loves to travel and discover new landscapes to paint.
At the October 17th demonstration, Ms. Adams will demonstrate her painting technique while creating a new still life. The demonstration is free and BYOC (bring your own chair). Examples of her work are below - tres chic!!
Space is limited, so guests are encouraged to register in advance for the demonstration by contacting the gallery at (703) 938-3880 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have fun and let us know how it was - we're hopeless with painting - no opposable thumbs, you know ...
Let’s hope you’ve saved your pennies, because here’s the chance you’ve been waiting for – on Saturday October 24, Christian Louboutin himself will be gracing the Tysons Corner location of Neiman Marcus (1-4 pm) for an exclusive meet n’ greet and Q&A moderated by Roopal Patel, Accessories Fashion Editor for Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.
If you’re lucky enough to be in the market for a new pair of the red-soled beauties, Louboutin himself will sign the soles.
The event is free, but we’re sure they’ll be a crush, so arrive early and plan your shopping ahead of time!
