A native of Burgundy, France, Chef Perret counts his family's produce stands at local french farmers markets as some of his greatest influences. He also cites his grandmother as a cooking inspiration. To date, Perret has manned kitchens in France, Canada and the US, bringing to ici globally-inspired dishes grounded in classic french techniques.
The new menu includes dishes such as Paella risotto with chorizo, clams and mussels, braised lamb shank with thyme jus and eggplant gratin and Burgundy escargots with fennel and cream.

Deacon may be a stylish pup, but his lack of opposable thumbs means that he just can't take this super-sweet opportunity. So we're passing it along to fans instead:

Having spent four years in the South, Deacon says that he knows a thing or two about good home cookin' - and this, my friends, is it. We could wax poetical about the crispy southern fried chicken, but instead, we'll tell you to go try it. Suggesting the market salad would be a good idea, but the servers will already tell you, with complete sincerity, that it's their favorite on the menu.
Don't think you're headed in for a diet treat - most everything on the menu is fried, dressed or otherwise adorned with calorie-laden goodness, but it's a great occasional splurge.
If you can, ask to sit on the outdoor patio or in the private back courtyard, where you can enjoy the nice weather and peace and quiet.
On a scale of four paws, it's a hearty 2.5.

We're absolutely in love with these couture creations, as seen last night on Nelly Yuki in Gossip Girl. Just in case you'll be in London next week, let us know and we'll pass along this invite for a private purchasing event.
Sadly, we'll be here, admiring from the Aruna Seth Web site.

It was a little of both, it seems. The runway at The Front Row was a predictably fabulous event, as just about everything organized by Barbara Martin and the Patton Group is. Unfortunately, the celeb guest of the evening wasn't up to playing nice with reporters or fans ... and earns a big "flop" in Deacon's book.

Do you sneak to the salon for your star-worthy hair color? If so, you're probably frustrated by the fading and brassiness that results from your at home treatment regimen. We snagged some tips from the head stylist at Bella Bethesda salon about how to extend the life of your treatment at home. Click to our Washingtonian.com piece for deets!

The "Dairy Queen" esque twist is what makes these treats unique: each buttercream frosted cake is dipped in a topping of chocolate or caramel and chilled! Mmmm. Sounds decadent and totally Deacon-worthy.

Deacon's no ancient Chinese history expert, but he's still dying to see the National Geographic Museum's upcoming exhibition Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of Chinas First Emperor (Nov. 19, 2009 March 31, 2010). Tickets go on sale today for this once in a lifetime event.
Today, we had a sneak peek at the press launch and wanted to bring you the full scoop! The exhibition is an in-depth look at the First Emperors historic tomb complex and showcases 15 life-size terra cotta figures, which represent soldiers, servants, musicians, acrobats and animals
Still need a reason to reserve tickets? Unless you have a trip planned to in the next few years, this is possibly your last chance to see the warriors! The DC museum will host the warriors in their last scheduled appearance, meaning it will be ages before they are back on our soil.
Buy tickets as early as today for just $12.

We had the distinct pleasure of attending the Ritz Carlton's "Bar Experience" launch event last week.
The party launched a new concept at all Ritz Carlton bars - creative new cocktails and fun small plates meant to transform their hotel bars into destinations for locals as well as guests.
The party seemed to succeed - packed to the gills with notables from the hospitality and media industries, everyone enjoyed noshing on apps like pork sliders, chicken croquettes, mini quesadillas, calamari and fries. Cocktails, including inventive twists on jello shots (served on silver spoons!) were big hits.
In an economically-friendly move, most all items on the menu are under $15 and meant to be both shared and mixed-and-matched. Katie over at WeLoveDC (we stole your photo too) has a much more thorough explanation, as well as the great blog Hotel Chatter.
We saw (unfortunately) that our friend and hotel PR maven Audrey was also shooting a video at the event, so if that turns up soon ... sorry.
See a few images, courtesy of Makeda, in TheScene Bisnow, here.
The adorable space, located just behind the new Target, is light-filled and decorated with great accessories (love the chandeliers), reminscent, like the site, of a woman's boudoir.
Not only are the spring selections fun, but we had the chance to catch up with friends like Kelly Collis Frederick of CityShopGirl and pr maven Jill Collins, as well as finally connect in person with Andrea Rodgers of AskMissA.com and Barbara Saylor of Capitol B.com.
Most exciting, however, was getting to meet Bettye in person. We could wax poetic (so stylish! so thin! so young!) but that's not really Deacon's style. Instead, we'll share some fun photos of the night - and encourage you to visit the SimplySoles web site for great summer shoe pics.
'Till next time, xoxo,
Photos, from the top: A) The fun spread of food, featuring a vegetarian lasagna "cupcake" (bottom left) that was actually quite good! B) Two of my favorites from the fall shoe collection C) Fun ladies at the event - that's Bettye, third from left.

We finally located the link to our recent Washingtonian.com story about the best area hats for upcoming horse races. You may have missed this in time for Gold Cup, but Preakness is still to come on May 16th!
Tickets are just $100. The cost of just over two tickets can pay for a life-altering surgery for a child in need.
Truth be told, the only thing Deacon knew about Helsinki prior to this exhibit was that OPI had a FABULOUSLY garish color we loved for our toes called "Getting Kinky in Helsinki." But when our good friend Judith passed along an invite to check out the new exhibit at the Embassy, we were admittedly intrigued.
Presenting a 21st century take on the "sister city" concept, the exhibit looks at Finland's capital through the eyes of a dozen notable Washingtonians, who traveled to the city earlier in the year. Their experiences are captured in "My Helsinki," a program and exhibit running at the embassy through the end of the month.
Participants include jazz musician and music advocate Davey Yarborough, Dr. Marta Palacios, principal of Bruce-Monroe Elementary and bi-lingual education pioneer, chef and organic food advocate Nora Pouillion, and architect and philosopher Travis Price.
Read the participants blogs, see their photos, and hear their stories firsthand. It’s an exhibit you won’t want to miss – even if there’s no nail polish involved.
Turn to www.myhelsinki.fi for more information about specific events.
Help support breast cancer research with the "Pretty in Pink" party on May 13th at Mezza Luna. Win cash prizes for the best outfit, and enjoy food and drink specials throughout the evening. $5 suggested donation at the door.
So don't miss out - donate today. This small comfort could make the lives of a serviceman or woman that much better, for just the cost of a quick lunch at Panera or Corner Bakery. Even better, we know that every dollar donated truly goes directly to men and women in need.
While you're at it, sneak a jar for yourself. This stuff really does heal everything.
